Sweet Cheeks Cloth Diapers ~ About Us
Sweet Cheeks Cloth Diapers ~ About Us

Why we do what we do.
Tragically, my husband and I lost our firstborn at birth, our little girl Jess. When our next child was born almost three years later (the first of our three boys), my husband and I were so relieved that he was healthy and happy. Naturally we wanted only the best for him.
It all started with designing his diapers (which I soon found I had orders for from friends, friends of friends, etc.). Then I found that I needed a comfortable absorbent breast pad (I got a severe infection from the disposable kind), so that was the next product to be designed, soft quality cotton flannel with no plastics and no cross seams or darts that could cause irritation. Other than our Polartec fleece products, only high quality cottons are used in SWEET CHEEKS designs and a lot of time is spent on picking the right prints to complement our products. That's my husband's job. He has a natural talent for knowing which prints will work and which won't, and so far he's been right every time.
Then came all the nursery linens. None of the crib sheets we had purchased fit after the first washing. They all shrunk and kept pulling off at the corners and were made out of what is commonly referred to as "spit-through cotton." You know the kind, where if you hold it up to the light you can actually see thin patches through it. So I just made larger crib sheets out of high thread count flannel (thicker and heavier) and the poor quality sheets we had purchased went into the rag bin. Then with the same flannel purchased for the sheets, I made receiving blankets (big square ones, 3' x 3', not those small rectangular kind that you just can't seem to wrap around the baby at all).
After that came the change pads. We didn't like the plastic ones, they were cold against our baby's skin and I washed one in the washing machine by accident and it totally disintegrated (it took days to get the machine cleaned). So I made our change pads out of flannel and lined them with terry towel to be thick, fluffy and absorbent. No more cold plastic!
Then came all the other linens. As we found a need for a product, I designed it and made it. By this time we had a huge demand for not only our diapers, but our nursery linens as well. This was all done within the first 8 months of my first son's birth. From there, to here...a natural progression of our company.
By the way, the name SWEET CHEEKS, was our first son's nickname at birth. He had the most amazing smile and dimples and these great big cheeks that great aunt so-and-so would just love to pinch and kiss. When we adopted his nickname for the business, it was assumed to mean another set of cheeks, which suited us (and the business) just fine.
We truly believe that out of tragedy can come triumph. So here we are, SWEET CHEEKS Diapers and Nursery Linens...a company committed to quality products at reasonable prices, environmental responsibility and the comfort and well-being of babies.
If I can be of service to you, please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you.
